Camerata Utricia is an ensemble specializing in historically informed performance founded in 2023 on the initiative of Sevastianos Motorinos. It is based in Utrecht, the Netherlands.
The Camerata is named in honor of the city of Utrecht, which brought its members together from all corners of the world. In 1611, the then gorvernor of Utrecht John Ogle decided to name his daughter in honor of the city: Utricia Ogle. She became a celebrated singer in her youth.
Its debut, In Furore, took place in June 2023 in a community garden, in collaboration with social welfare organizations. In 2024 and 2025, the ensemble performed Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater, Hacquart’s Harmonia Parnassia, and the interdisciplinary project A Summer’s Tale. Collaborations include concerts with Kamerkoor Canteklaer (2024), Cantatekoor Wageningen (2024), and Toonkunstkoor Euterpe (2025).
In December 2023, Stichting Camerata Utricia was established to support the ensemble’s productions, securing both public and private cultural funding.
The ensemble and stichting focus on giving young soloists opportunities, exploring lesser-known repertoire, exploring interdisciplinary work, and bridging baroque with contemporary classical music.
